World info:
Auau's world is one stuck at a very slow pace of technological progress, currently about early Bronze Age, due to being ruled over by powerful summoners who see little reason to invest in technology when they can just summon spirits to do everything for them. Rulers in this world are the ones who can summon the most powerful spirits, which is seen as a sign of spiritual favor of their rule. Auau's people, the dog-like Kikin, for the most part have little spiritual affinity, leading to them being mostly part of the underclass along with other people without the spiritual affinity that allows them to become summoners.

History:
Auau's mother, Pon, is an alchemist and her father, Mumu, is a storekeeper that handles the business end of the alchemy family business. Auau was born deaf and grew up in her parents' alchemy store, until a summoner came for her because the spirits were telling him about the Kikin they liked. After some initial communication difficulties which was resolved when he summoned a translator spirit, she went with him because becoming a summoner would help her better her parents' lot.

What followed was intensive training and study, with her acquiring a rival in her master's other student, Helen. Both of the students advanced at a rapid pace and lived a life of study and training.

That changed when the master died. The master's tower was very desirable, being full of his research, tools, and materials. The current regent of the country seized the tower and held it until either one of the students became worthy or he found someone to give it to. Helen, being a human, had an easier time finding resources to finish her education, but Auau was viewed as more of a curiosity than anything. She ended up begging for help from a summoner lady who had quite a thing for Kikin to the point where she had her own harem of Kikin servants. Auau was taken in as a student and worked hard to develop herself to the point where she could reclaim her master's tower, and began looking like a serious contender.

It was soon after this point that the assassination attempts began. Auau nearly died a few times, but learned to weather the would-be assassins and managed to find out who sent them: a contender for the tower who had tried to frame Helen for the attempts. Auau devised her own assassination plot and hired an assassin to carry it out successfully.

After eventually proving that she could summon a higher spirit, she was able to reclaim her master's tower and invited Helen to come back to it. After that, the two were on better terms and lost themselves in spirit research. That continued until Auau's parents were arrested for creating illegal drugs that could boost the user's own spiritual affinity, allowing them to summon spirits. Auau worked hard on the only option she saw: summoning a Grand Spirit and thus filling the position of King which had been left empty until a native Grand Summoner came along.

She succeeded and over the protests of some were crowned King. But her struggles didn't end there and she had to deal with dissident summoners, more assassination attempts, and an invasion by another nation. Despite all that, she began carrying out an agenda of reform, making things better for non-summoners.

Canon point: A year after Auau leaves her parents' alchemy shop and goes to start studying.
Age: 14.

Personality:
Auau is someone that'd rather be left alone to do her research. She deeply enjoys digging into the hows and whys of things and has a great love of learning. She also can be a little grumpy thanks to the treatment she's gotten as a deaf person and a Kikin.

Despite this, she's willing to give people a chance, not having yet experienced the dangers that made her future self considerably more cautious. Her curiosity extends to other people and she will try to get to know anyone who starts out treating her decently. And she believes in her parents' cause of making things better for the lower classes. As well, she's proud of her own people.

Deep inside, she possesses a courage and stubbornness that will take her through many difficulties and lead to her becoming a reformist as a king despite the dangers of that.

Character changes:
It's possible that with a better support network, Auau will end up less hardened than her 'canonical' future self, or at least less lonely.

Capabilities:
At this current point, Auau can only summon relatively weak spirits, able to be a threat to an average soldier but no more. However, she can summon all kinds of minor utility spirits, including a language spirit to act as a sign language interpreter.

Over time she will become able to summon more and more powerful spirits, up to Grand Spirits capable of destroying armies and cities but lasting only a few seconds due to the strain on the summoner.

She also is fairly proficient at alchemy from her time working in her parents' shop and has a sense for the spiritual and magical.
